Can I use Berberine and Allicin with Sulpiride?
45.00 zł

Good morning
I have SIBO and the dietician recommended berberine and allicin therapy. I also take Sulpiride 100mg per day. Can I take berberine and allicin while taking Sulpiride? She asked her doctor, but he told me to drink lemon balm, he didn't take my SIBO symptoms seriously.

So far, there has been no evidence of an interaction between Sulpiride and berberine and allicin. However, it should be borne in mind that the interactions of dietary supplement ingredients with drugs are usually not studied and their occurrence cannot be completely ruled out. Allicin may have a blood pressure-lowering effect and when used together with Sulpiride, it may potentially increase the risk of hypotension - it is worth bearing this in mind when combining these preparations.

The efficacy of berberine in the treatment of SIBO is still under investigation and so far there is no conclusive evidence that it has positive effects in patients with this condition. Clinical trials are currently being conducted in this direction: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/36873985/

I have not found any scientific papers confirming the effect of allicin contained in garlic on SIBO.
