Does the lactation stop pill still work after expressing milk?

Good morning, pleased Floriana, I have been taking the pill since yesterday to stop producing milk as it did not make my baby grow. Only this morning I had to pump it because it was swollen, hot and it hurt.
Does anything happen, in the sense that the pill continues to have its effect having pumped milk? Thank you very much

I understand that you have some concerns about the effect of the lactation cessation pill. Pills to stop lactation work by reducing milk production by the mammary glands. However, even after taking such a pill, the body may still produce some milk, especially if there is stimulation of the mammary glands, for example by expressing milk.

The symptoms you describe - a swollen, hot and painful breast - may be a sign of inflammation or stagnation of milk within the mammary glands. This is a serious situation that requires immediate consultation with a doctor.

If you are taking pills to stop your milk supply but still need to express milk and you have symptoms of mastitis, there is a possibility that the pill may not work enough to stop milk production.

If you are concerned about this situation, it is always a good idea to consult a doctor who can give you more personalized advice. If you do not have the opportunity to take advantage of the advice, I am attaching a link to the online teleconsultation:
