Etoricoxib (the active ingredient in Roticox) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug that works by inhibiting the enzyme cyclooxygenase (COX), thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins – chemicals in the body that are responsible for inflammation, pain, and fever.
Etoricoxib is unlikely to cause water retention as a direct result of etoricoxib. However, some people may notice fluid retention as a side effect of taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as etoricoxib. In such cases, you should consult your doctor for proper advice on treatment and possible side effects.
