Bupropion and Anafranil are prescription medications and can be used together if prescribed by the prescriber.
Bupropion is one of the substances that inhibit the isoenzyme CYP2D6, which is involved in the elimination of clomipramine (Anaranil). This effect may lead to an increase in the side effects of Anafrnail. When bupropion is added to the treatment of patients already taking Anafranil, the body's reactions should be monitored and the dose adjusted accordingly.
Concomitant use of Bupropion with Anafranil may increase the risk of seizures, especially in people with a history of seizures.
The use of both preparations at the same time is not contraindicated, but caution should be exercised while taking medication and any side effects should be reported to the doctor.
