Why should I protect myself when switching from tablets to patches correctly, if the first patch doesn't work?

Good morning
I'm switching from the jeanine pill to the evra patch and I would like to ask why I have to use an additional contraceptive method for the first week or the patch doesn't work during this time? Because in theory, during this period, I should have withdrawal bleeding and be protected all the time. In my situation, if I had intercourse the day before, am I protected for the first week?

Theoretically, there is a risk that ovulation will occur before the patch starts working. Therefore, it is recommended to use a condom preventively with the first patch.
The day before the onset of withdrawal bleeding and the application of the patch, intercourse was secured properly. There is no need to worry.
