Hydroxyzine (the active ingredient in Atarax) can cause drowsiness, fatigue and reduced psychomotor performance. People who take hydroxyzine should exercise caution when driving or operating machines, especially at the beginning of treatment when they are not sure what individual reactions to the drug will be.
