I've been taking Zulbex reflux medication for a month now, and I'd like to get tested for parasites/giardiasis and calprotectin in my stool. Will the medication I take have any effect on the test results?

In general, rabeprazole, the active substance in Zulbex, is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) medicine and should not directly affect the results of parasite tests. However, there are a few aspects that are worth considering.
The bottom line is that rabeprazole can affect the pH of the stomach. PPIs reduce the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach, which makes the environment less acidic. Some tests for parasites can be sensitive to changes in pH, so in theory, if the change in pH is significant, it can affect the test results. However, in most cases, the impact is minimal.
