Hello, I have cystitis and I need to take the antibiotic biseptol 960 today, in addition I take neofuragin and multiuri. I'm taking the contraceptive pill Orlifique and yesterday at 9 p.m. I started a 7-day break. Will an antibiotic reduce their effectiveness? I'm afraid to take it because I had my last unprotected intercourse yesterday around 5 p.m., so is it possible that any potential sperm that may have leaked could lead to conception when I start taking an antibiotic?

It is possible to reduce the contraceptive effectiveness of Orlifique when you are taking both medicines. While taking the antibiotic and 10 days after the end of the treatment, it is advisable to use additional contraception, e.g. in the form of a condom.
If you have had intercourse before starting the antibiotic, there is little chance of conception. Please note that the contraceptive pill is taken according to the schedule and retains its activity.
Extreme caution should be exercised from the time you take the antibiotic.
