Am I protected against pregnancy if I stop using the contraceptive patch?

Good morning
I'm in the middle of a 7th day break after the 3rd patch. Tomorrow I don't plan to apply another patch due to the fact that the dimer level is 0.01 above normal. Was I protected today? And is such an unkempt increase in DDIMERs an indication to change the method of contraception?

Theoretically, you are protected for 7 days between patches if you apply another patch on the 8th day. In the situation you describe, there is theoretically a risk of a lack of contraceptive protection. Assuming you don't apply the patch tomorrow and you ovulate in your body, having sex today may be associated with a risk of pregnancy. Of course, these are rare situations, but the risk is there.

Therefore, consult your gynaecologist before you decide to stop using the medicine(s).

In the case of elevated D-dimer levels, it is advisable to consult a specialist. Elevated levels can come from a variety of sources. Liver disease, inflammation or hyperthyroidism can affect the test result. It will be necessary to combine the analysis of the test result with the results of other tests, as well as with your medical history and the symptoms you observe.
