The doctor prescribed my four-year-old Hitax 2.5 mg, was she not mistaken, is it not too much?

The doctor discharged my four-year-old hitaxa 2.5 mg,didn't she make a mistake,isn't that too much?

I understand that you have doubts about the prescribed dose of medicine for your daughter. However, as a pharmacist I can only give general information, I am not able to replace the consultation with a doctor.

Hitaxa is a medicine used to treat allergies and the dose depends on the age and weight of the patient. While 2.5mg seems to be a relatively high dose, as for a 4-year-old, it may be appropriate in some cases of allergies. To prevent choking, half a tablet of the drug can be dissolved in a tablespoon of water and given to the child in the form of a suspension.

In case of doubt, I encourage you to consult your doctor again. It is the doctor who decides whether to treat the patient m.in based on the history of the disease and the previous response to treatment. Only a doctor can decide on a possible change in pharmacotherapy. If you do not have the opportunity to visit stationary, I encourage you to use teleadvice, e.g. via the Gdziepolek.pl portal:
