Hi I have a question about the drug onirex, my grandmother has been taking this drug for a long time several times we tried to explain to her and discontinue it but in vain. We are afraid and suspect that she is already addicted to him, but every attempt ends in a fierce brawl. Is there any other replacement not harmful, or at least similar-looking pills so that it can be deceived, to put it mildly?

Onirex zolpidem is a hypnotic and sedative medicine for short-term use. It is recommended that treatment be as short as possible - a few days to 2 weeks, a maximum of 4 weeks, including a period of gradual dose reduction. The use of this drug in too high doses or for too long can lead to the development of physical and psychological dependence. If addiction develops, it is necessary to consult a doctor and establish a plan for the process of gradually reducing the dose of the drug. You may need to include medications to relieve withdrawal symptoms. The drug can not be discontinued suddenly, due to the risk of withdrawal symptoms (m.in. headaches and muscle pain, increased anxiety and mental tension, anxiety, confusion and irritability, and in severe cases unreality, depersonalization, hypersensitivity to acoustic stimuli, light and touch, numbness and tingling of the limbs, hallucinations and convulsive seizures). I understand that you want to help a loved one, but in this situation, giving over-the-counter sleep and sedation preparations or tablets that only resemble Onirex tablets is not the right way to solve the problem.
