Exacyl, or tranexamic acid, is a drug used mainly to inhibit bleeding. In some cases, it can be used as an adjunctive treatment in a variety of medical settings, but the decision to use it, especially for existing conditions such as atrial fibrillation, should be made by the doctor. Atrial fibrillation is a heart rhythm disorder that may require specialized cardiac treatment. Medications that affect blood clotting, such as tranexamic acid, can affect the risk of blood clots and thrombi in people with atrial fibrillation. Therefore, it is important to consult your doctor before using Exacyl or any other medicine if you have atrial fibrillation.
