Abrupt discontinuation of drug 10 may be associated with withdrawal symptoms including mood disorders, concentration disorders, sleep problems, as well as arrhythmias, blood pressure, muscle pain and chills. For this reason, the process of discontinuation of the drug should be carried out in consultation and under the supervision of a doctor. Conversely, alcohol consumption during treatment with Medikinet CR 10 mg may lead, m.in to an increase in methylphenidate concentrations, which increases the risk of adverse reactions and overdose. The risk of overdose is higher when medicinal products containing prolonged-release methylphenidate (e.g. Medikinet CR 10) are combined with alcohol. To sum up, during the course of treatment it is recommended to refrain from consuming alcoholic beverages.
