Should I use an antibiotic if Tamivil is ineffective?
Good morning. I take tamivil but 4 days have passed since taking the first dose and there is no improvement. Will I need an additional antibiotic? Symptoms include fever, cough. Shortness of breath and weakness.

Tamivil is an antiviral medicine used to treat influenza. If you have been diagnosed with a viral disease, taking an antibiotic is unfounded, because it only works for bacterial, not viral infections. If you still experience symptoms of infection after treatment with Tamivil, contact your doctor.
