Hello, does encorton affect the increase in cholesterol? My 5-year-old son took encorton for 5 days, after two weeks I did blood tests and the cholesterol came out over 200. Could it be after this drug?

The use of Encorton, a drug from the group of steroids, may affect the level of cholesterol measured in the blood. Increased levels of not only total cholesterol, but also LDL and serum triglycerides are often observed in patients. All these parameters are determined by a lipidogram. If the medicine has stopped being used, there is no reason to worry. The tests should be repeated after some time, e.g. a month. The use of Nasonex is topical, it is also a steroid - only in the form of a nasal spray. If the drug was administered correctly, there is no reason to suspect accumulation of substances in the body. If you are concerned about the health of your child, it is worth reporting your concerns to the attending physician who will take appropriate steps. I would like to add that the son had previously taken nasonex for two months and could it somehow accumulate in the blood purely rather impossible? Please reply
