It should only be used during pregnancy after consultation with the doctor treating the pregnancy and only if it is absolutely necessary. According to the manufacturer: "Symescital should not be used during pregnancy unless clearly necessary and only after careful consideration of the risk-benefit balance. In reproductive toxicity studies with escitalopram in rats, embryotoxicity and foetal toxicity were observed, but no increased incidence of birth defects was observed. After the mother uses SSRIs/SNRIs later in pregnancy, the newborn may experience the following symptoms: respiratory distress, cyanosis, apnoea, seizures, fluctuations in body temperature, difficulty in feeding, vomiting, hypoglycaemia, increased muscle tone, decreased muscle tone, hyperreflexia, tremor, tremor, irritability, lethargy, constant crying, sleepiness and difficulty sleeping. These symptoms may be the result of serotonergic action or withdrawal reactions. In most cases, complications appear immediately or soon (
