What does bleeding mean after inserting a Kyleena IUD?

Is this a period? Good morning. I don't know if I'm okay. The thing is, on 21.11 this year, I patched Kyleen's insert. Then on 29.11 I had intercourse with the use of a condom. However, 4.12 I noticed a slight spotting that normally occurs on the last day of the period. After a week of such spotting, normal bleeding occurred, which continues to this day. Since 4.12 I also have temporary pains, which are sometimes really strong. Is this normal? This is a period? Could there be something more serious behind it?

This question can only be answered best by a doctor who will examine you during the visit. Bleeding changes, including periods of greater or lesser intensity, spotting, infrequent periods and no bleeding - these are very common side effects of the Kyleen IUD. If you feel severe pain (similar to cramping during menstruation) or if you experience heavy bleeding after putting on your system, or if you feel pain or bleeding that lasts for more than a few weeks, you may be an infection, perforation or incorrect position of your Kyleen IUD.
