The doctor prescribed me Aciprex, previously I took Efectin ER 75 - does it make sense to change the prescription for an old drug or maybe Aciprex has a better effect?

Good morning, after 1.5 years I am back to treating anxiety and depression. The doctor asked what drug I had taken before, which worked for me, but unfortunately I could not remember the name and I was prescribed Aciprex. Now I have come to the fact that I used to take Efectin ER 75. Does it make sense to change the prescription for an old drug or maybe Aciprex has a better effect?

It is difficult to assess the effect of drugs on the principle of "better" and "worse". Both preparations are used in the treatment of m.in depressive and anxiety disorders. Aciprex belongs to the SSRI group, Efectin ER - to the SNRI group, so the mechanism of their action is slightly different and you may feel a different end result of the treatment. In this situation, it is best to consult a doctor again. I encourage you to read: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/kategorie/leki-na-depresje
