I have been taking Yasminelle tablets for 3 years. For a week I have to take the antibiotic Ramoclav. If I take a probiotic during this time, will the effect of the tablets be preserved? Does a probiotic help that an antibiotic can weaken the effects of contraception?

There is no evidence in clinical trials that amoxicillin with clavulonic acid contained in Ramoclav may impair the efficacy of contraceptive pills. However, it is known that antibiotics can cause disorders of the digestive system, such as diarrhea, which can interfere with the absorption of drugs, including birth control pills. The use of probiotics, by supporting the reconstruction of intestinal microflora, reduces the likelihood of this type of disorder, and thus indirectly reduces the risk of malabsorption of substances contained in contraceptive pills. We wrote about why it is worth using probiotics in the text: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/probiotyki-czy-warto-stosowac-leki-oslonowe
