What drug works more for sedation? Ketrel or Chlorprothixen? After Ketrel 75 mg. at night I feel worse and worse during the day and I feel tense that it is difficult for me to breathe. It's as if I direct my breath and inhale by force. However, I combine it with Trittico at a dose of 125 mg and 1/2 mg of Lorafen and in the morning I take Coaxil. Best regards.. and please help..

Chlorprotixen is a drug from the group of neuroleptics, it is a classic group of drugs that have been the basis for the treatment of patients since the 50s of the twentieth century. This drug has a pronounced sedative effect. Ketrel is also a drug from the group of neuroleptics, belonging to the second generation, the so-called atypical drugs. Here there will no longer be such a pronounced sedative effect. However, the described symptoms may also result from the accumulation of side effects of the drugs taken (despite the time interval). Parallel use of beznodiazepines (here: Lorafen) with antipsychotics (here: Ketrel and Chlorprotixen) may cause the summation of side effects. It has been noted that such a combination of drugs can cause side effects including: respiratory depression, hypotension, ataxia, arrhythmias. Additional risk factors that may predispose patients to this interaction are: old age, pre-existing cardiovascular conditions, liver failure, organic brain disorders. Although the combined use of these medicines may be therapeutically beneficial, the patient should be closely monitored for signs of toxicity during the use of the combination. I encourage you to make an appointment with the attending physician, who will adjust the treatment according to your current clinical condition.
