I was swapped norvasc 10 mg for Lercan 20 mg. Is this a good change?

It is difficult to answer such a question unequivocally on the basis of such a short description. Both Norvasc and Lercan belong to the same group of drugs - calcium channel blockers. This is one of the four basic groups of drugs in the treatment of hypertension. Norvasc (Amlodipine) is an older preparation, present on the market longer. It acts mainly on peripheral blood vessels, and to a lesser extent on heart muscle cells. Lercan (Lerkarnidipine) is one of the newer and better tolarized drugs than Amlodipine. It also has a greater effect on the regression of left ventricular hypertrophy. Lercanidipine is worth using especially in uncomplicated hypertension, especially in isolated systolic hypertension. It has a strong hypotensive effect, has a long period of action – this is a feature typical of newer preparations of this generation. Lercanidipine is a good drug to replace in patients who do not tolerate Amlodipine. I also encourage you to read the article: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/app/artykuly/nadcisnienie
