At the moment, there have not yet been cases of tomato flu in our country. So far, cases of tomato flu have been detected in India and Australia. Nevertheless, this disease is highly contagious and it is highly likely that the infection will also reach the Polish. Tomato flu is caused by coxakivirus, a type of enterovirus that also causes m.in polio disease and hand, foot and mouth disease (HFMD), sometimes mistakenly called Boston disease. First of all, young children get sick (especially up to 5 years of age). In addition to the typical flu symptoms or those occurring with COVID-19, such as fever, weakness, muscle and joint pain, dehydration, vomiting, dysentery, the symptoms also include the appearance of painful, red blisters on the skin, which grow to the size of tomatoes as the disease develops. Hence the name flu.
