You can apply the first patch today, but you are not sure if there will be bleeding or midcyclic spotting despite using the patch. In addition, you should be aware that sticking the patch on any day of the cycle will not provide protection right away. Therefore, if you apply the first patch a week before the expected menstruation, you should use an additional form of protection in the form of a condom during each intercourse in this cycle of application of the patches (during all 3 patches and a 7-day break). Protection will be provided only when using the patches from the second package.
