Can changing the bleeding when using the contraceptive implant mean that it is not working properly?

For 2 years I have a contraceptive implant after a few months from the assumption menstruation has normalized, but for some time it is again very unsuspecting and strange - short with gentle spotting without pain or strong with sharp bulami Out of curiosity I did an ovulation test that came out positive Does this mean that the implant does not work properly? Unfortunately, I have to wait for a visit to the gynecologist

The contraceptive effect of the etonogestrel contained in the implant consists primarily in inhibiting ovulation - they are not observed in the first two years of using the implant and very rarely in the third year (but in addition to inhibiting ovulation, it also causes changes in cervical mucus, which hinders sperm migration). It is unlikely that the implant will suddenly stop working properly. Disturbing changes in the bleeding profile should be reported to the treating gynecologist. It is not recommended to use home ovulation tests when using hormonal contraception, as it can falsify the results.
