Is it true that once you apply elosone ointment, from time to time you will have to return to Elosone to keep the skin in proper condition because the natural regenerative abilities of the skin will weaken and weaker ointments will no longer work on it?

It is true that corticosteroids for external use (such as mometasone contained in Elosone ointment) during long-term use can lead to the appearance of dilated capillaries, stretch marks or skin atrophy as an undesirable effect. Abrupt discontinuation of preparations such as Elosone should also be avoided, especially if the treatment was long-lasting. There may be a so-called "rebound" effect, manifested by deterioration of the skin (dermatitis with "increased redness, burning and stinging pain"). The above facts do not mean, however, that a single application of Elosone ointment will lead to permanent consequences, the need for lifetime use of the preparation and the ineffectiveness of other drugs. The doctor who recommended the product should determine the time frame of steroid therapy depending on the diagnosis (type of disease) and take care of its safety to avoid possible side effects.
