Hi - I'm just starting the adventure - I have a question whether the length of the needle matters?

Do@Martyna:
There is no need to check the flow after each needle change.
According to the manufacturer:
"Always use a new needle for each injection.
This can prevent needle blockage, contamination, infection, and inaccurate dosing."
"When using a new pen, before the first injection, you should
always check the flow."
Both a 5 and 6 mm needle will be suitable.
Should I check the flow of the medicine between changing the size of the needle? Does the length of the needle affect the administration of the dose? I'm currently using 5mm and want to change to 6mm, but I'm afraid I won't be given the right dose of medication after changing the size.

The manufacturer of the drug recommends using needles up to 8 mm long and from 32G thick. Please note that the length is given "up to" 8 mm, i.e. it can also be shorter needles (but not longer than 8 mm). You can use 8 mm needles, but also 5 mm or 6 mm. Patients often use 5 or 6 mm - this is enough length to administer the drug subcutaneously. It is worth checking several sizes - choosing between 5 - 8 mm with the correct administration it will be possible to properly deliver the drug. Other aspects are your "preferences", i.e. whether when using shorter / longer needles, the injection hurts less. 5 mm, e.g. https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/48855/igly-do-penow-bd-micro-fine-plus-igla/apteki 6 mm, e.g. https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/54708/novofine-igly-do-penow-insulinowych-igla/apteki 8 mm, e.g. https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/61649/insupen-igly-do-penow-pic-indolor-igla/apteki After each administration of the drug, it is recommended to change the needle. It is best to do it in such a way that before administering the drug, we mount the needle, administer the drug, remove the needle and put the cap on it, throw it away. We store the pen without a needle. Before the next application, we put on a new needle.
