Treatment of an acute attack of gout, as a rule, lasts 1–2 weeks. Roticox is a medicine that reduces inflammation and pain, but it has no effect on uric acid levels, which are directly responsible for gout symptoms. In contrast, allopurinol (the active ingredient in Milurit) inhibits the production of uric acid.
