It would be interesting to see what the level of infection and death was among alcoholics using disulfiram esperal inserts and daily pills. The healing effect should be more noticeable among those taking the tablets, since the daily dose is high 125-500mg, this compared to Esperal 1000mg sewn in for about a year. Disulfiram is rarely used in the West, but in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe it is still widespread.

At the moment, animal studies are being conducted. There are no clear indications yet that would allow the use of drugs such as Anticol in patients with COVID-19. It is true that a few days ago in the Journal of Experimental Medicine there was an article in which scientists from Weill Cornell Medicine and the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (USA) report that disulfiram administered to rodents protects their lungs from immune damage. The results of the study were confirmed in two separate experiments - in animals infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus and in animals with a syndrome of lung failure called TRALI (acute transfusion lung injury), which in rare cases occurs after a blood transfusion. Tests on Siberian hamsters showed that administration of the drug the day before or the day after SARS-CoV-2 infection led to clearly favorable results. Disulfiram by inhibiting the production of NETs (structures that, driven by disease, can damage lung tissue) blocked progressive damage to lung tissue and vessels, and thus enabled relatively rapid stabilization of lung function and recovery after initial damage. As the researchers emphasize, there is currently no drug that would effectively treat lung damage in patients after COVID-19, so it is worth conducting further research on disulfiram. At the moment, the use of disulfiram in the treatment of COVID-19 is still the subject of research.
