The test can be performed about a week after the end of treatment with Pylera. The bismuth in Pylera absorbs X-rays and may affect the diagnostic tests of the gastrointestinal tract using X-ray techniques. Since this compound has a fairly long half-life, its concentration in the blood may persist for several days after discontinuation of the drug.
