Duloxetine may be a helpful medicine for people with neuropathic pain. Registered indications include diabetic neuropathy, but the drug is also used off-label (except for the provisions in the leaflet) in shingles neuralgia, trigeminal nerve or other types of pain. In the case of neuropathic pain, improvement may occur only after a few weeks. Talk to your doctor if there is no improvement after 2 months. Any medication may or may not cause side effects. All side effects are listed in the leaflet for legal and safety reasons. This does not mean that all of them will definitely occur. There may also be no alarming symptoms. It is also not justified to over-read other patients' opinions about a particular medicine, as this does not allow you to reliably assess how it will be tolerated in your individual case. Medications are ordered primarily to help, not to harm, and this is how you should approach the proposal for therapy with Duloxetine.
