It is generally accepted that the use of secretion thinning agents (which also include ivy extract contained in Hederasal) in children under 2 years of age is not recommended due to the risk of exacerbation of respiratory symptoms. Hence the information in the leaflet that the drug can be used in children over 2 years of age. Without talking to your doctor, you must not use Hederasal in children before the age of 2 years. However, it should be borne in mind that the doctor, based on his own knowledge and experience, may recommend the use of the drug off-label. It is possible that the doctor's experience shows that in this situation the use of Hederasal will be the most appropriate. More about off-label treatment can be read in the text: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/leczenie-off-label-poza-wskazaniami
