Krwawienie z odstawienia występuje zwykle w trakcie 7-dniowej przerwy. Ponieważ jednak pierwsze 3-4 miesiące stosowania antykoncepcji hormonalnej to tzw. okres adaptacyjny - krwawienie może nie wystąpić w terminie, może być bardziej skąpe lub bardziej obfite niż zwykle, mogą pojawiać się także plamienia i krwawienia śródcykliczne.
