Is the bleeding related to sticking the patch too late?

On Thursday I should stick a new patch but I forgot and stuck on Friday. This was my second patch in this cycle. Since Saturday it has been bloody. Does it have to do with the fact that I forgot to change the patch on Thursday? I will add that I use the patches intermittently for over 2 years.
