Płyn Clotrimazolum Medana służy do aplikacji na skórę, a nie do pochwy czy na śluzówki (jako składnik pomocniczy zawiera między innymi etanol). Można nim leczyć grzybicze zakażenia skóry wywołane przez dermatofity, drożdżaki, łupież pstry czy grzybice wałów paznokciowych.

Do stosowana na okolice intymne czy też bezpośrednio do pochwy należy zastosować preparat przeznaczony do tego celu. Do aplikacji do wnętrza pochwy przeznaczone są specjalne postaci leku z klotrimazolem np. Canesten (miękkie kapsułki dopochwowe) czy Clotidal (krem dopochwowy). Kremy z klotrimazolem nieopisane jako dopochwowy można stosować na skórę i błony śluzowe zewnętrznych narządów płciowych - u kobiet na wargi sromowe.
