Leki zawierające metforminę (np. lek Siofor 1000) działają w inny sposób, niż mieszanka insulinowa (np. mixtard 30 penfill), m.in. lek Siofor nie zwiększa gwałtownie ryzyka hipoglikemii, czyli zbyt niskiego poziomu cukru we krwi. Nie ma więc ogólnych przeciwwskazań do tego, żeby zastosować lek Siofor i w odstępie 30 minut insulinę.

Ważne, aby trzymał się Pan zaleceń lekarza oraz monitorował odpowiednio często stężenie glukozy we krwi za pomocą glukometru.

W przypadku mieszanek insulin ważne jest, aby pamiętać o spożyciu odpowiedniego posiłku w odpowiednim czasie.
