Can nicotine contained in gums and nicotine patches be dangerous?

Good morning, I would like to ask about the harmfulness of pure nicotine, taken e.g. in the form of gums/patches. I have not found anything to prove that it harms. I ask you to indicate the scientific literature to confirm the harmfulness or lack thereof.

Nicotine replacement therapy that includes the use of, m.in patches, chewing gums, lozenges or oral aerosols containing nicotine is widely considered safe and its benefits far outweigh the potential risks. Doubts about the use of nicotine replacement therapy are related to concerns that nicotine may increase the risk of thromboembolic complications and hinder wound healing. These doubts were the reason why nicotine replacement therapy was not recommended for patients preparing for surgical operations. According to the literature, at the moment there is no evidence from clinical trials confirming that nicotine replacement therapy increases the risk of healing-related complications or cardiovascular complications. Similarly, studies conducted in patients with stable coronary artery disease confirmed that nicotine replacement therapy does not increase the risk of cardiovascular thrombotic events. This therapy is contraindicated in pregnant women. As for precautions, special attention should be paid to patients with inflammatory diseases or stomach ulcers, as nicotine when used orally can be irritating. In addition, caution should be exercised in patients with kidney and liver disease, as they may slow down the process of eliminating nicotine from the body, which may increase the risk of side effects. Caution should also be exercised by patients with pheochromocytoma of the adrenal glands and hyperthyroidism, because in these patients catecholamines released under the influence of nicotine may exacerbate the symptoms of the disease, affecting, m.in. blood pressure. You should also be aware that nicotine replacement therapy, like smoking, can cause addiction. Therefore, nicotine preparations should be used strictly according to the manufacturer's recommendations.
