Podczas terapii lekiem Eliquis INR można pozostać niezmienny bądź ulec wydłużeniu. Celem terapeutycznym podczas stosowania leków przeciwkrzepliwych jest zazwyczaj osiągnięcie wartości INR na poziomie 2-3.

W przypadku chorych leczonych lekami przeciwkrzepliwymi nowej generacji, do których zalicza się zawarty w produkcie leczniczym Eliquis apiksaban, tradycyjne testy do oceny krzepliwości krwi (np. INR), wskazują jedynie na sam fakt stosowania leku, nie odzwierciedlają natomiast skuteczności leczenia, dlatego nie zaleca się rutynowego oznaczania wspomnianego wskaźnika u pacjentów przyjmujących lek.
