Is a 12-year-old too young to use the doctor prescribed Tetralysal?
Hello, my less than 12-year-old daughter was prescribed by a doctor for tetralysal acne. He is supposed to take for 12 weeks. Could it negatively affect her health? On the dentition and other organs. Isn't she too young for such a drug?

The doctor assesses the benefit/possible risk ratio individually for each patient. When it comes to discoloration on the teeth, I just read the leaflet because my child is also prescribed this medicine and it is written that children under 8 years of age should not take this medicine.

Jaką dawkę leku przepisał lekarz Pani córce?
W ulotce preparatu znajduje się wyraźny zapis, by nie stosować leku u dzieci poniżej 12 roku życia ze względu na ryzyko wystąpienia trwałych przebarwień zębów i hipoplazji szkliwa. Jeśli zatem lekarz wypisał z pełną świadomością antybiotyk mając na uwadze wiek córki to decyzję o tym, czy stosować lek czy nie - musi Pani podjąć już samodzielnie. Główne negatywne działania jakie może wywołać Tetralyslal, to właśnie zmiany w obrębie uzębienia. Podczas terapii należy również stosować kremy z filtrem UV oraz w miarę możliwości unikać ekspozycji na słońce.
Jeśli nie jest Pani przekonana co do tego, by stosować lek u tak młodej osoby, to zalecałabym konsultację z innym dermatologiem. Być może zaleci on mniej radykalną terapię. Na własną rękę - jeśli trądzik u córki nie jest w stadium bardzo zaawansowanym, można rozważyć stosowanie bratka w tabletkach lub w postaci naparu, oraz odpowiednio dobranej pielęgnacji skóry.
