With short-term use or low doses of the drug, the risk of side effects in the child is small.
In the case of using higher doses or long-term therapy, the child should be monitored for symptoms such as excessive sleepiness, irritability, weakness, poorer appetite or slower weight gain. Very rarely, with long-term exposure to high doses of glucocorticoids, adrenal suppression may occur.
