Can I buy Tamoxifen for a breast cancer patient in Krakow or Warsaw with a Russian prescription?

Hello,
We are citizens of Israel. We are stuck in Krakow because of the war and the closed airspace. Our daughter lives in Russia. Currently, it is impossible to get medicines there. After breast cancer surgery, she needs tamoxifen at the age of 32.

We have a recipe written in Russian. Would it be possible for us to get this drug in Krakow or Warsaw?

Yes, Polish law allows prescriptions from outside the European Union, although prescriptions from outside the EU are always paid 100% (without refund).

The prescription in Russian (Cyrillic) can be problematic. The pharmacist must be able to read it unambiguously. It is best to go to a large pharmacy around the clock, where the staff meets with foreign patients more often.

If a pharmacy refuses to fill a prescription due to a language barrier or a lack of complete details on the prescription, the best alternative is to obtain a Polish e-prescription. You can make an appointment with a Polish doctor - oncologist or family doctor (internist) and receive a prescription based on your passport number.

There is also the possibility of teleconsultations, e.g.

The consultation is held in Polish, and after sending a scan of the daughter's medical documentation and a Russian prescription, the doctor can issue a Polish e-prescription in a dozen or so minutes.
