Yes, the active substance in Hitaxa (desloratadine) is routinely used in children of this age. For a child aged 8 years, the recommended daily dose of desloratadine is usually 2.5 mg, but if the child weighs more than 30 kg, the doctor may recommend a higher dose, i.e. 5 mg.

Pharmacies also offer special forms of Hitaxa dedicated to children, such as an oral solution (syrup) or orodispersible tablets (FastTab) with a strength of just 2.5 mg. They are safer and easier to administer.

Desloratadine is a new generation antihistamine, which means that it does not cause drowsiness in most children, which is important at school age.

If you have doubts about this situation, it is always worth consulting a doctor who can give you more personalized advice. If you are not able to take advantage of the advice, I attach a link to the online teleconsultation:

User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
