The mechanism of action of Entresto is based (to put it simply) on vasodilation, excretion of sodium in the urine, increased glomerular filtration rate and blood flow through the kidneys. As a consequence, the use of the drug may cause a decrease in the level of sodium in the plasma, as well as a change in the level of other ions, e.g. potassium. During treatment, blood ion levels should be systematically monitored.
