The picture shows a blister of a medicine called Fleca 100 mg (flecainide acetate)
Fleca (flecanid) belongs to the group of antiarrhythmic drugs. It is a potent drug used mainly in the prevention and treatment of dangerous supraventricular arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation in people without structural damage to the heart.
Mechanism of action:
The drug blocks sodium channels in heart cells, which significantly slows down the conduction of electrical impulses in the heart muscle. By increasing the time it takes for heart cells to regenerate (the refractive period), the drug helps to restore and maintain a normal, steady sinus rhythm.
A characteristic feature of the action of flecanid is the lengthening of PR intervals and the widening of QRS syndromes in the ECG recording, which requires close monitoring by a cardiologist.
This medicine must not be used in patients who have had a heart attack or have heart failure, as it may paradoxically cause new, dangerous arrhythmias in these cases.
