Failure to maintain accurate 12-hour intervals is unlikely to result in an immediate health risk, as Xifaxan acts mainly locally in the intestines and is minimally absorbed into the bloodstream. However, irregular dosing may have reduced the effectiveness of treatment and promoted recurrence of symptoms.
It is also important that long-term, repeated treatments (several months in a row) should take place only under the supervision of a doctor. For subsequent therapies, it is worth strictly following the dosage recommendations or consulting the regimen with a doctor.
