Dark stools and lack of appetite are possible side effects of Helicobacter treatment and usually go away after treatment is complete. Symptoms such as low mood, irritability or, more rarely, depression can occur mainly due to the effects of metronidazole.
If you notice a decrease in mood, apathy or other depressive symptoms, tell your doctor immediately – you may need to change your treatment or stop it early. Do not discontinue the drug on your own without consultation.
