Should I start taking Cipronex 250 mg if I have been taking this antibiotic for 5 days at a dose of 500 mg but it is expired?
12.99 zł

I got cystitis. My doctor ordered me to take Cipronex 250mg twice a day. However, I had an old package of this drug, but in a dose of 500mg. I took it once a day, but it was a month after the due date. I took it for 5 days, but I don't feel any improvement. Should you start taking the right antibiotic with the due date and the correct dose? If so, for how long should it be used?

You should take Cipronex 250 mg 2 times a day – as prescribed by your doctor. Usually, the treatment time is between 3 and 5 days, unless otherwise recommended by your doctor.

After the expiry date, the medicine may lose its effectiveness as the active substance gradually breaks down. In some cases, decomposition products with unknown or harmful effects may also be produced, so you should not use expired drugs. Even more so antibiotics such as Cipronex.

The fact that you did not observe an improvement could be due to both the wrong dosage of the drug and the fact that the drug was expired.

To cure cystitis, you should start the treatment prescribed by your doctor as soon as possible.
