After the first use of Wegovy, the sterility of the system is compromised, even if the needle has been removed and the cartridge remains tightly closed. Over time, degradation of the active substance and an increase in microbiological risk may occur. The manufacturer sets a 6-week shelf life after starting use based on the stability and safety of the drug – exceeding this may affect the effectiveness and safety of the therapy.
