Is prolonged bleeding while using Probella after a few months of taking it a reason to discontinue the drug?

Hello. I've been taking probella for about 6 months. I didn't have my period for over 3 months, but for over two months I have it almost all the time, it's not as heavy and painful as before taking the medication, but it lasts two weeks, a week off, another two weeks, and a week off and now it's also the 10th day, and there is no end in sight. Has anyone had such a ? Stop taking medication? Should I wait a little longer?

Prolonged and irregular bleeding with Probella (dienogest), especially after several months of stable use, may be a symptom that the body does not tolerate the preparation well.

Your experience with bleeding lasting two weeks with a one-week break is consistent with these possible side effects. If bleeding is bothersome or worrying for you, I encourage you to consult a doctor who can assess whether it is worth continuing the treatment or stopping it. Your doctor can also help you determine if your bleeding is caused by Probelle or if there are other causes.

I also encourage you to report adverse drug reactions. Reporting side effects allows you to increase control over medicines available on the market. We wrote more about how and why to report side effects in the article:
