Does the detection of Helicobacter pylori during gastroscopy mean that I need to take medication?
I did a gastroscopy and hekictobactera bacteria were detected on the spot. Indication for treatment. Samples were taken immediately for the test, and a month was waited for the result. In the meantime, I bought the pyrel drug. I'm already after the treatment. Today I received the results, hekictobacter negative. So what does it mean? No bacteria? So why did I have to take this drug, the price was 430 PLN, liver and other damages. What now?

A positive urease test performed during gastroscopy indicates the presence of Helicobacter Pylori, which in turn is an indication for treatment. Helicobacter is the most common cause of the development of stomach cancer; It also causes symptoms associated with peptic ulcer disease of this organ.
Specimens taken for histopathological evaluation do not have to bear a trace of the presence of this bacterium, because it lives in specific places of the stomach (more precisely - in the cavities of the prepyloric part). Specimens are taken from various sites to detect early stages of carcinoma or inflammatory infiltrates.
To sum up - the recommendation to use Pylera was justified. Next, a breath test should be performed to assess the effectiveness of the treatment - 6 weeks after the end of treatment.
