What test can I do to confirm or rule out gout?
30.00 zł

Good morning, I have elevated uric acid 8.1, probably two gout attacks in the big toe area, but urine test for gout 4.5. All tests were done 2 months after the first attack. What other tests can I do to confirm or rule out this disease?

The first and basic test is to check the level of uric acid in the serum, although patients suffering from gout do not always have abnormal blood results. An additional assessment of inflammatory markers: ESR, CRP, as well as a complete blood count with a lipidogram and serum glucose and creatinine tests can be performed (the latter parameter assesses kidney function disorders associated with, for example, too high levels of uric acid in the blood). Additionally - imaging diagnostics of the affected joint (X-ray or ultrasound) is recommended.
